Customer Queue Management Software - Cloud Based
Queue Management System - Cloud Based
Why use a cloud based system?
Cloud based software is now highly accepted by various businesses. Different types of customer queue management software solutions are used by businesses operations to better serve their customers for their business operations. The customer queue management software creates a virtual queue, and this allows for much improved customer service.
Customer facing companies that are currently looking to deploy queue management systems across multiple locations, the preferred architecture is for a Cloud based queue management systems. The previous set up of installing a separate on-premises software
for each Branch location has become inefficient and costly, with the availability of the cloud option.
Advantages:
Having a cloud-based customer queue system would
provide the following advantages:
1. Ease of software deployment to each location,
since there will be no physical server needed for each location. This results
to faster time of setup in each location, since there will be no physical
server to configure for each location
2. Lower cost of total ownership, due to reduced
hardware items needed.
3. Reduced software maintenance time and cost,
since software updates can be rolled out centrally and immediately applied to
all locations
4. Ease of gathering customer queue transaction
data and staff performance data across different locations.
Disadvantages:
There are still possible disadvantages to a cloud-based
Customer Queue System as compared to an on-premise standalone system:
1. There is a heavy dependency on network availability
and on a stable internet connection, so that if network or internet becomes intermittent,
then the location will not be able to run the customer queue software.
2. A cloud-based software would have a single
point of failure. For multiple locations with individual standalone software
running independently, this would in fact provide a distributed architecture
and prevent a single point of failure. This can be mitigated by setting up a high availability infrastructure with multiple, geographically separated server nodes.
Recommendations:
Having looked into both the advantages and the
disadvantages for cloud-based Customer Queue Management Systems, the advantages
outweigh the disadvantages for companies to implement a cloud-based system for
their Customer Queue Management System.
